I know, I know.
It’s been AGES since I’ve posted, hasn’t it?!?
Whether you’re aware of it or not, 2019 was an “off” year for Copy Power. 😬
I started the year strong, with two highly-engaged launches, but then it became clear that things needed to change in the business.
I wasn’t sure what those things were, so I decided to take some time off. I took about a month off, and then downloaded an incredible new business idea for Business Bitch, my new company. 💃
Here’s Why I Had a Crappy Year In Business for Copy Power in 2019…
In 2017 and 2018, I did a lot of business coaching under the Copy Power umbrella, and it made sense: I was so good at getting great copywriting and marketing results for my clients… people started asking me to teach them how, so I did.
Things ramped up to a peak of Copy Power being both a copywriting agency + coaching company, and then with too many different things under the umbrella of that one brand & that one company, things started to fall apart.
People didn’t know how to work with me. They were confused: Did I write copy for them? Did I just sell digital trainings teach them how to write the copy? Or was I someone to hire as a business coach?
And in hindsight, I can’t blame them.
Which is why I started Business Bitch – to put all the business coaching under that umbrella.
I also realized that aside from a small handful of clients I absolutely adore, I don’t really love being in creative project delivery & revisions mode for random clients.
So for the most part, 2019 was a year “off” for Copy Power. I didn’t try to grow it. At all. 🚫
Heck, towards the end of 2019, I even thought I would sell the company. After all, it had so much potential, got in lots of great client leads, and was well-known across the internets for the value it provided…. why not let someone buy it so they could help it live up to its full potential? 💸
The decision not to sell…
But as I was doing some journaling and planning at the end of December for January & beyond, I realized I didn’t want to sell it.
I LOVED the trainings I created, and wanted to keep selling them. 💖 💖
Even if I hadn’t sold many in the past year because it wasn’t my focus, I was sitting on a gold mine of value, and just knew that a few tweaks here & there would really ramp up what the company could do as far as profits & making an impact on the world. (Which, ironically, was my main value pitch in my company sales documents when I thought I’d be selling the company’s assets to someone else.)
And because the tweaks were easy to make, I 100% had the capacity to handle them myself, even as a solopreneur with another company I’m passionate about.
Anyway, long story short, 2019 sucked for Copy Power.
I haven’t ran my final numbers for my accounts yet, but I’m 99.9999% sure I made less money than I have from the business in three years. (Which is significant, considering the business ins’t even 4.5 years old yet.) 📉
But you know what?
It’s okay. 😉
And it’s okay if 2019 kind of sucked for your business, or if you’re in a place where things are kind of sucking right now.
If you want to, you can and will come out the other side of it MUCH stronger. 💪
Just like I did & like Copy Power did. 💪
Heck, I’ve already made my main freebie and course offer funnel SO MUCH STRONGER. 🤩
I’ve revamped the free Sell More Online email course to be fresher & more relevant than when I made it three years ago… and I do a better job in the funnel at giving people paid offers to learn more from me if that’s something they decide they want to do after learning my free material.
I also do a better job of letting my audience get to know me, so they can better understand who I am, where I come from, and what I can do for them.
If you want to re-take my free three-part email course to help you learn how to sell more online with your website copy, you can do so here.
Or if you’re into the idea of taking a big leap, I’m offering a $200 off coupon for my Write a Better Website Digital Course. Use the coupon code HAPPY2020 at checkout, and you’ll get the full course, lifetime access, and all updates made over time for just $197. (This code is only valid through January 21, 2020 at midnight Pacific.)
That’s less than 50% of the market value cost. Why? Because I love you & I’m excited about what 2020 has in store for Copy Power. Also I want to thank you for sticking with me, even though my crappy year.
(Use code HAPPY2020.)
