Copywriting for Websites

Copywriting for websites.

What a broad topic.

Like, so broad it’s literally impossible to cover in one video.

Or in 100 videos, for that matter.

But sometimes, you don’t need to dive ultra-deep into copywriting to improve your website.

Sometimes, all you need are a few tiny ideas that’ll help you improve what you’ve already got, without doing an all-out rewrite.

So that’s what this video is.

In particular, I’ve chosen to feature three websites from traditional brick-and-mortar businesses, but the principles apply to everyone.

So let’s get to it, shall we?

If you found that video helpful, I’d love it (and you!) if you’d click on one of those cute little social media icons below and share it with your network.

And for more tips on how to instantly improve your website’s resonance and conversion rates, check out my free ebook that covers five different copywriting hacks to help you reduce your bounce rates and increase your conversion rates.

Beyond that, you can subscribe to the Copy Power TV YouTube Channel and/or enter your name and email address below to get updated every time I publish a new blog post (approximately every other week) and to be in the cool “in” crowd that gets brownie points from the universe and exclusive Copy Power news.

Copywriting for Artists

Let me just say, I’m sick of the “starving artist” mentality.

I live in a city with a thriving art scene with plenty of successful, six-figure artists. But despite that, the vast majority still seem to have the mindset that art is only a fun hobby that you might be able to make $20 on here or there if you’re lucky.

But I’m a high-paid freelance writer, for goodness sake, and if any career besides teaching is notorious for its low wages, it’s freelance writing. (Or just being an artist in general.)

It’s completely false that you have to suffer financially or otherwise for the sake of your art or the joy of creating it. So in today’s video I’m going to help you actually sell your art—whether it’s pre-made or commissioned—to make actual MONEY from it.

I’m going to walk you through three websites of your fellow artists showing you how they can improve their on-site copywriting for more purchases and conversions to give you ideas on how you can do this for yourself.

Specifically, we’ll talk about:

  • Spelling out the usefulness of your art.
  • Getting rid of jargon.
  • Attaching your higher-end & custom offers to your customer’s emotions.

If you found that video helpful, I’d love it (and you!) if you’d click on one of those cute little social media icons below and share it with your network.

Copywriting for Beginners

Believe me: I’ve been there.

Trying to figure out what the hell you’re doing with your site’s copywriting and just hoping to god it’s sufficient for enough people to buy from you to keep your business afloat.

It’s stressful.

I’ll admit: expert copywriting is kind of a beast to figure out and master… especially if you’re just getting your toes wet in it.

Fortunately though, you don’t have to be an expert copywriter to have good enough copywriting or to make some major improvements to your on-site copy today.

So instead of inundating you with a million rules on headlines, how to write your first sentence, hooks, sub-headings, calls to action, and story, I’ve got three easy-to-understand and easy-to-use tips for you in this video.

I promise they’re not complicated and that they’ll improve your site.

Copywriting for Life Coaches

Y’all… I’ve got some mad respect for life coaches.

They sit down, hear out all of our crazy goals, then hear out all of our crazy emotional problems and help us get a handle on them.

And if that weren’t enough, then they put custom-made action plans together to help us achieve our goals. You know, despite that fact that we’re so emotionally messed up.

I imagine it’s draining career a lot of days.

But also rewarding… which is why most of you probably got into it in the first place.

So in today’s video, I want to give life coaches a leg up. I want to help them figure out ways to improve their website copy so they get more clients that are a joy to work with, and less that are a drain on their energy.

I’ve got three main tips that will help you do this, and I’ll walk you through some on-site rewrites step-by-step.

Copywriting for Personal Trainers & Athletic Coaches

Most personal trainers don’t only rely on the internet to bring them business.

Some do, but most of you guys are using gym networks, word of mouth, and referral programs to keep your client rosters full.

But, like most smart business people, you also want to make sure your website stands out from your competition. You want to really impress the people who come across you, and your website is the best place to do that.

Yet, every time you sit down to figure out what to actually say on your site, the ideas and the words escape you.

In this video, I’ll walk you through three different websites and show you how I uncovered their best hook messages and how I re-wrote their hooks to draw readers in and make them want to know more.

If you found that video helpful, I’d love it (and you) if you’d click on one of those cute little social media icons below and share it with your network.

Copywriting for Online Entrepreneurs

I think I speak for most of my fellow online entrepreneurs when I say that it’s pretty awesome to set our own schedules, be in control of our own incomes, and to work from anywhere with an internet connection.

In fact, I think those are the main reasons most of us got into online entrepreneurship in the first place.

And most of us, at some point relatively early in the game, start to figure out what our on site conversion rates are. Once we know those numbers, it becomes a numbers-in, numbers-out game to ensure our profitability.

But just because we start out with one conversion rate doesn’t mean we can’t improve it.

In fact, one of the best ways to improve your conversion rate is to start with a hook that’s impossible for your target audience to ignore. They won’t have any choice to but keep reading about your offering… and we know that the more someone sticks around to read, the higher your chances are of selling to them.

In today’s video, I walk you through two examples of how to identify and write a more effective hook for whatever it is you sell online.

Copywriting for SEO (Copy Power TV)

I think everyone who has a website knows that copywriting and SEO go hand-in-hand… somehow.

It’s just figuring out how the heck they actually do fit together and what the hell you as a site owner are supposed to do about it.

Bu it doesn’t have to be difficult… promise.

In fact, if you take time to cover the basics, you’ll be 80% of the way there… and 80% is, according to my very specific math, a million times better than 0% of the way there.

Because even if your SEO isn’t totally perfect, you’ll at least have done something to make sure you’re getting search engine traffic, which is important.

In this video I talk about four different things you can do to boost your website’s SEO to help you out in the search engines.

Copywriting for Social Media (Copy Power TV)

It’s very rare that I have a client who feels like they’re doing a great job with their social media channels.

Heck, even I know I’m not taking advantage of social media like I should, and a lot of the work I do is as an online marketing consultant.

There’s just so much to it that it’s impossible to master it all… especially as a small business.

So how do you guarantee that you’re making the most of the social media work you do put in?

Thankfully, it’s not about “secret tricks the gurus aren’t telling you” or some new-fangled “growth hack.”

Instead, it’s all about how you use the words that your prospects are passively reading to grab their eyes and jolt them to attention. It’s about how well you make them interested in what you’ve got to say… and making it clear that what you’re saying is more important than their cousin’s baby eating sweet potatoes for the first time or the fact that their old evil boss finally got fired.

In this video, I’ll live edit items on Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn to show you how you can do exactly that with your own business… and finally stop worrying over whether you’re doing “enough” on social media once and for all.

Copywriting for Photographers (Copy Power TV)

A good picture on a photography website is worth a thousand dollars.

But a beautiful picture + crisp, effective copywriting is worth at least a few thousand, if not more.

Sorry for the cheesy analogy, but I couldn’t help it.

Today’s video is for photographers who don’t just use their cameras for more than just a fun hobby… they use them to make a living. You know, to do things like pay the mortgage and put food on the table.

For you, making money from your skill is a very big deal, and unless you’re a wedding photographer smack in the middle of wedding season, you’re probably looking for more ways to book out your calendar for more cash to make it through the not-so-busy times.

In this video, I’ll show you how to do just that.

I know your pictures are already stellar, so we’re going to look at how to use the wording on your website to make you absolutely irresistible to your target market… whatever that market may be.

I’ll live-edit two different websites to give you some ideas on how to optimize your own on-site copywriting for your photography business, prompting more people to get in touch about getting on your calendar.

Copywriting for Facebook Ads (Copy Power TV)

Ever seen a Facebook ad that just made you roll your eyes?

Even if you’re not a marketing professional, you just know the person who put that ad up didn’t think things through.

Especially on the hyper-targeted, information-rich platform that is Facebook, the fact that an old coworker and a distant cousin both like a page dedicated to a certain food product really isn’t a compelling enough reason for you to allow that same food product to pollute your newsfeed.

On Facebook in particular, you have to power to resonate so powerfully with different pockets of your target audience because Facebook lets you decide which types of people see which ads you publish.

It’s an incredible opportunity, but you really need to make sure the copywriting in your Facebook ads doesn’t fall flat.

You’ve got to make sure your Facebook ads copywriting does two things:

  1. Instantly resonates with the people who see it
  2. Prompts them to take action (which in this case, is clicking on the ad to reap a specific benefit)

In this video, I take you into my own Facebook newsfeed and live-edit ads targeted towards me to give you ideas on how you can improve the copywriting of your own Facebook ads.
